As stipulated by the SFWF’s Act No .12 of\u00a0 2002,<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>

(i) Section 2 – A small farmer<\/span><\/a> is defined as a small planter<\/span><\/a>, small breeder<\/span><\/a> or small agro – processor<\/span> <\/a>or a group of small planters<\/span>,<\/a> breeders or agro-processors registered<\/span><\/a> with the Fund\u00a0<\/p>

(ii) Section 16 \u2013 Contributions to Fund<\/p>

For the purposes of this Act, a small planter who wishes to benefit from any\u00a0 scheme set up under section 4 (2)<\/u>(b) or facilities granted by the Government<\/u> shall, except for a cane planter , be \u2013<\/p>

  1. Registered with the Fund<\/li>
  2. Subscribed to a Farmer\u2019s protection Scheme<\/a><\/li><\/ol>

    The Registration of Farmers therefore allows the extension of facilities to eligible bonafide farmers\u00a0 in a structured and efficient manner.<\/p>

    Following\u00a0 the registration exercise<\/span><\/p>

    \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 (i) A Farmer\u2019s Card is issued to each registered farmer<\/p>

    \u00a0 \u00a0 (ii) A Farmers Central Database was established to store all data collected during the registration exercise mainly on the economical and social profile of farming community.<\/p>

    \u00a0The FCD assisted the Fund much in implementing relevant schemes for the welfare of the farming community. The FCD was also made to other Government institutions (agricultural as well as non agricultural) to conduct various activities for the progress of the agricultural sector.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
